WCFFB STORY
Hi, I'm Shawn Fennewald, a PE Teacher in Fulton, Missouri! Like many of you that are on this page, I'm a lifelong football fan. I played football as a kid and in to high school, but passion for the game took on a whole new meaning when I started coaching flag football with my son and a group of enthusiastic young kids. Seeing their joy and talent on the field reignited a passion in the game for me.
As a football fan, I've watched with excitement as flag football has exploded across the country. In my hometown William Woods University launched an NAIA women's college flag football program in 2024. Also in Fulton, NCAA Division III Westminster College (MO) will begin competing soon!
For me, it has been inspiring to see new athletes having fun and paving the way for the future of the game. Every day I see women’s flag football open up more high school, college, olympic, professional and other opportunities as they come available. These are life changing opportunities for these athletes and encouraging for a future of football that envisions women as part of the story!
Football fans everywhere are just as excited as I am by the skill, dedication, and talent at these athletes bring to the game as I am. Together, let's shine a spotlight on the future and grow the game of college football!
