Dallas College Launching Women's Flag Football at Six Campuses Dallas College; Liz Scruggs

Dallas College is launching women's flag football at six campuses: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, Mountain View, Richland, and North Lake. They will compete in the NJCAA. Official practices are slated for late October, with preseason scrimmages set for Feb. 11–12, 2027, and the inaugural regular season kicking off Feb. 19. Dallas College has also partnered with BSN SPORTS, with Nike as the preferred supplier.
Lynn Nabi, executive director of athletics, said the department is proud to help grow the sport and hopes a Dallas College campus will hoist an NJCAA national trophy. Among the first recruits is Garland native A'jaLynn Bostic, a four-time Texas state powerlifting champion who will join the Richland Thunderducks. The release was issued Sept. 1 and was picked up again Tuesday by North Texas e-News.
Hannah McNair Named Co-Chair of NFL Flag Football Committee Houston Texans

Hannah McNair, chief community officer and vice president of the Houston Texans Foundation, has been named co-chair of the NFL's Flag Football Committee, alongside Indianapolis Colts owner and chief brand officer Kalen Jackson. The committee will oversee the sport's continued expansion and commercialization globally.
McNair previously served on the NFL's Flag Football Working Group, created in 2025 to oversee the sport's growth, global expansion, and inclusion in the 2028 Olympics. She said she is proud to champion equitable opportunities "from youth to high school to the Olympic stage."
Jets Release EmpowHER Documentary on Inaugural ECAC Season New York Jets
The New York Jets have released EmpowHER: The Next Level, a documentary from 1JD Films documenting the launch of the ECAC Women's Flag Football League, backed by the Jets and the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation. The film follows the inaugural spring 2026 season from media day through the championship tournament, where Marymount (Va.) beat Franciscan (Ohio) 37–26 to claim the first ECAC title.
The league's formation was announced in December 2025, with 15 teams in the first season. The documentary closes with the sport's expected growth in the years ahead. A trailer is also posted by the Jets.

Husker Women’s Wednesday featuring Liz Sowers
Nebraska head coach Liz Sowers laid out the program's first-season plan in a Huskers Radio Network interview posted this week. Sowers said the timeline moved from 2028 to 2027 because of new NCAA Division I eligibility rules. The roster, including freshman quarterback Ariana Akey, will begin practice in September. Positions will be sorted in the fall ahead of January competition.
She said opposing defenses should expect scrambling from Akey to extend plays and open passing lanes, and confirmed Nebraska will compete in the iFlag and College Football Playoff Flag Football Showcase in January. The interview runs about 15 minutes.
Seahawks Launch Global Flag Football Initiative with Jaxon Smith-Njigba Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have launched two Inspire Change programs focused on the next generation of leaders, with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba as ambassador. Through Inspire Change: Global Impact, the club is the first NFL team to launch a global Inspire Change program across all of its international markets, using Seahawks Flag Football to grow youth participation in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Canada.
In partnership with the NFL and Beyond Sport, the Seahawks will award community grants of $25,000 to $50,000 in each market to organizations serving underserved youth, supporting flag football participation along with mentorship and career-readiness programming.
